The Elcocks 2002, Doug and Joyce, front, John and Matt back. Joyce is the youngest daughter of John and Veda Burgess, Grand daughter of David Burgess and Mary Anna Shea Burgess. She was born in Westmoreland in 1948 and lived on the family farm outside of Wamego until the family moved to Manhattan in 1954. She met Douglas Elcock at college and they were married in 1972. Matt was born in 1975 in North Carolina and John in 1977 in Wamego. Both boys graduated for Wamego High School and The University of Kansas. Currently Matt lives in Chicago and John in Austin. Joyce's father, John Michael, was a nephew of Tom Burgess and Joyce's mother, Veda Helen, was a niece of Mabel Burgess. The Elcocks live on the family farm 3 1/2 miles west of Louisville. Her siblings include John "Freddie", George and Judy.
